Glasgow memorial for 12th anniversary of Rachel Corrie’s death, Mon 16th, 5:30pm Thales, Govan

UPDATE – we will be at Thales closer to 6pm, not 5:30

Every year I commemorate the death of Rachel Corrie, who I was with in Gaza in 2003 when she was killed by an Israeli soldier whilst defending a Palestinian home. This year its been organised very last minute as I didn’t know whether I’d be in London or Glasgow, and have been a bit worn out by travel and work and life shit. But here’s whats happening in case anyone else feels moved to join us.

We will come together outside the Thales factory in Govan (1 Linthouse Road, Glasgow, G51 4BZ) at 5:30pm on Monday 16th March 2015. Thales was picked as the company is implicated in weapons production for Israel, and was previously the site of a rooftop occupation by Glasgow Palestine Action. It is where Rachel would have wanted to be, and as she can’t, we can bring her there, through her writing.

We will read through her emails and other writings. I will have some printouts, but if you can, please bring printouts or that page loaded onto ebook readers or whatever.

I will be in Govan from about 4:30, in cafe 13, opposite from Govan subway. My number is 07828540512 in case you can’t find us. I may be late but will definitely go there before heading on to Thales.

Please feel free to bring flowers, candles, pictures or anything else relating to Rachel or to anyone killed because of war or nationalism.
