Lejog day 6. North Tawton to little silver.

Mouse race country! Blackberries for 2nd breakfast. Coffee and homemade banana and chocolate cake in shop (elevensies?). 2nd puncture, again in front wheel – bit of glass this time. Picnic lunch in puddington – locally baked bread on local cheese on a pretty bench next to the village hall. Shortly after we stopped locals started walking by and coming to chat. Very friendly and lovely depictions of idyllic village life. The bus comes through twice a week to go to Exeter and back. But during the winters “word gets around” when those with 4wd vehicles are going shopping and they pick things up for everyone. The annual village flower show sounds like it was quite the event. A keyholder for the hall joined the chat and opened it up for us to use toilet and kitchen so we had tea too.

Saw several deer. Gentler ascents and descents. Wild camping in a gorgeous spot at the far end of a large meadow that hadn’t had farm animals for a year or so by the look of it. Trees and a stream next to us. And lots more blackberries. Hid bikes under bracken.

21 miles as needed something easier after past few days. Until this week my longest ever cycle was 25 miles!
