Lejog day 21: Coalburn to Glasgow

36 miles

Followed the ncn 74 route, with some on road shortcuts. Stopped at community cafe in Stonehouse for lunch and coffee. Super friendly and helpful. Interesting historical photos of the place and the actual camera they were taken with (see pic below). Massive old legs of no longer there ?viaduct? in valley as we climbed out of it.

Some super posh areas intersperced with poorer housing as we entered commutable distance to Glasgow, Hamilton etc. Nice routing taking us through big parks and along rivers.

Took bad diversion along cycle path that turned out to be muddy track through woods requiring lots of getting off and pushing. Picniced at Bothwell castle which was cool and old and a proper castle with turrets and decent fortifications.

Joined the Clyde cycle path. Very pretty and great way to enter Glasgow. Seemed to take long time to get home though, considering it was only 36 miles today.

Now going to be in Glasgow til Tuesday for lots of Rs: Rest, Restoration of bank balance (working couple of shifts), Repair of tent, Relaxation, Restocking and repacking as we discard warmer weather clothes, camping stove and some other bits, and gain colder weather clothes and new camping mat.

Just a pretty river view from a nice bridge. So many of these all the time :)
